Photorejuvenation

As we age, our skin undergoes changes. It becomes thinner, loses its softness, and can develop unwanted pigmentation and small visible blood vessels.

Sun exposure often worsens these conditions.

Photorejuvenation is the ideal treatment for these lesions. It’s a non-invasive procedure that delivers results from the very first session.

What is Photorejuvenation ?

Photorejuvenation is a treatment that uses medical intense pulsed light (IPL) to address the visible signs of skin aging. It helps you achieve clear, smooth, and radiant skin after just one session.

The heat generated during the treatment stimulates dermal neocollagenesis, helping to rebuild the skin’s supporting tissue.

Dr. Aimé has been using this highly effective and safe technology for over 19 years since opening her clinic. She now utilizes the Nordlys platform, the latest generation machine from Candela, which is the most advanced and comprehensive system for treating various skin issues.

Depending on the settings applied by your doctor, the device emits energy specifically targeted at blood vessels or melanin in your skin, leaving the surrounding skin unaffected.

Anti-Aging Treatment Indications with Photorejuvenation

The Nordlys technology can treat numerous skin disorders. With its exclusive Elipse IPL dual-filter spectrum, the system filters the emitted light to only diffuse the necessary wavelengths for treatment.

This makes the device very precise, safe, and powerful.

Nordlys photorejuvenation can treat :

  • Vascular disorders : such as erythrosis, rosacea, spider angiomas, and varicose veins.
  • Inflammatory vascular disorders : such as rosacea and acne. Nordlys technology reduces blood flow to the sebaceous glands, slowing down sebum production.
  • Superficial pigmentation disorders and sun-related skin aging : like solar lentigines, poikiloderma, and erythrosis coli.
  • Structural changes in the dermis and epidermis : including enlarged pores, solar elastosis, and collagen alterations.

Photorejuvenation gently addresses all these signs simultaneously, delivering natural and gradual results without social downtime.

The face, neck, décolleté, and backs of the hands are the most favorable areas for this type of treatment.

Photorejuvenation Sessions with Dr. Aimé

This treatment is not without consideration, so a precise diagnosis of the lesions and a detailed medical history review, including current treatments, is essential before the session.

Dr. Aimé will assess the lesions to be treated, ensure there are no contraindications, and provide you with a personalized care protocol.

You will be asked to avoid sun exposure for the four weeks preceding your first session, throughout the treatment duration, and for three weeks after the final session.

On the day of your treatment :

  • Avoid applying makeup or creams before the session.
  • Your skin will be cleansed, and you will wear protective goggles while Dr. Aimé applies a protective gel to your skin.
  • The light beam is moved over the treatment area. You will feel a normal warming sensation, and the treatment is well tolerated.

Each session lasts about 20 minutes, depending on the area to be treated.

The number of sessions varies depending on the anatomical region and skin type. Typically, pigment disorders require 1 to 3 sessions, while achieving an even skin tone, smooth texture, and treating vascular issues or rosacea may require 3 to 6 sessions.

The interval between sessions is typically 3 to 4 weeks.

After a Photorejuvenation Session

Following the session, you may experience intense redness, and the treated pigmentation may darken quickly. These reactions are entirely normal and will subside within a few days.

A soothing and reparative cream will be applied and prescribed for use over a week.

Effective sun protection is essential throughout the treatment protocol.

From the first session, you will notice a clearer, smoother, and more radiant complexion. Approximately two-thirds of superficial brown spots will be eliminated.

Pre- and Post-Treatment Recommendations

To ensure a safe and effective treatment, it is recommended to avoid sun exposure for 3-4 weeks prior to the session, and a suitable sun protection cream will be prescribed for the following month.

A tailored skincare regimen will also be prescribed after your treatment.

You can apply light makeup if needed after the session. This treatment does not require any social downtime, so you can resume your usual activities immediately following the session.

Results of Anti-Aging Photorejuvenation Treatment

From the first session, you will enjoy a clearer, smoother, and brighter complexion, with about two-thirds of superficial brown spots removed.
